Privacy Statement

The short version: Kepter stores what you put in it, uses it only to run the product for you, sells it to no one, and deletes it when you ask. The long version follows.

Effective date: July 8, 2026

Who we are

Kepter ("we," "us") operates the Kepter household management service — the web application at kepter.tech and app.kepter.tech and the Kepter iOS application (together, the "Service"). This statement explains what information the Service handles and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@kepter.tech and a human will answer.

Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Account information — your name, email address, and password (stored only as a salted hash), or your Apple/Google sign-in identity if you use those.
  • Household records — the content you choose to store in Kepter: vehicles and their service history, home systems, assets, expenses, mileage, pets and their veterinary records, household members' health records (immunizations, doctor visits, prescriptions), credentials, and personal files.
  • Documents and media — receipts, manuals, titles, photos, and videos you upload and attach to your records.
  • Household member details — names and record details you add about members of your household. You are responsible for having their permission (or being their parent/guardian) before adding their information.

Information collected automatically

  • Technical basics — standard server logs (IP address, browser type, timestamps) used for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the Service running.
  • Device push tokens — if you enable notifications on iOS, a push token that lets us deliver your reminders to your device.

The marketing site you're reading now does not use advertising trackers or analytics cookies.

How we use your information

  • To provide the Service — storing, organizing, and displaying your household records to you and the household members you authorize.
  • To send the reminders you've configured — maintenance due, filter changes, warranty and credential expirations, and medication schedules.
  • To secure the Service — authentication, permission enforcement, and abuse detection.
  • To support you — answering your questions when you contact us.
  • To power the AI features you choose to use — when you scan a receipt, import a bank or card statement, or ask Kepter to read a document you upload, that file is processed to extract details (like date, merchant, amount, and category) which are shown to you for review before anything is saved. AI processing happens only when you ask for it, only on the file you submit, and only for your benefit.
  • To operate the business — processing subscription payments and sending essential service communications (like a change to this statement).

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use your household records to build profiles for anyone else's benefit.

Who your data is shared with

Your records are visible only to the members of your household, according to the permissions the household owner sets. Beyond that, we share data only with the service providers required to physically run Kepter:

  • Cloud infrastructure — our database, authentication, and encrypted file storage are hosted by Supabase on Amazon Web Services.
  • Sign-in providers — if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google, those providers confirm your identity to us. We receive only your basic identity; we cannot see anything else in your Apple or Google account.
  • Push notification delivery — reminders are delivered through Apple and Google's standard push services. The notification content necessarily passes through them in transit to your device.
  • VIN decoding — when you decode a vehicle's VIN, that VIN (and nothing else) is sent to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's public vehicle database to retrieve the specifications. VINs identify vehicles, not people.
  • AI document processing — when you use an AI feature (receipt scanning, statement import, or document reading), the file you submit is sent to our AI processing provider to extract its details, and the results are returned to you. These files are processed only to serve your request — they are not used to train AI models, and they are not retained by the provider beyond what processing requires.

Each provider processes data only to perform its function for us. We may also disclose information if the law genuinely requires it, and we'll tell you when we're legally permitted to.

Your health-related records

Kepter lets you keep personal copies of immunization records, doctor-visit notes, and prescription details for your household, plus veterinary records for your pets. This information is stored solely so you can see it; we never share it or use it for any purpose of our own. The only processing that ever touches a health record is processing you explicitly request — for example, asking AI to read a document you upload — and the results go only to you. Kepter is a personal record-keeping tool, not a healthcare provider, and is not intended to replace your providers' official records.

Data retention and deletion

  • Your records are kept as long as your account is active — that's the product.
  • You can delete individual records, documents, or household members at any time from within the Service.
  • If you close your account, we retain your data for 30 days (in case the closure was a mistake), then delete it from production systems. Encrypted backups age out on a rolling schedule after that.
  • You can export your data — PDF reports and your original uploaded documents — before closing your account.

Children

Kepter accounts are for adults. Parents and guardians may keep records about their children and may grant a child a limited login to their household; children's information is added and controlled by the household owner, not collected directly by us from children.

Where data is processed

Kepter is operated from the United States and data is processed on U.S.-based infrastructure.

Changes to this statement

If we make a meaningful change to this statement, we'll notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect — not bury it. The effective date at the top always tells you when it last changed.
